
Salma Hayek Pinault, born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jamesenez on September 2, 1966, is an American and Mexican actress and producer. She started her career in Mexico with her starring role in the television drama Teresa (1989-1991) as also in the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) and for which she won an Ariel Award nomination. From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999), Dogma (1999) and Desperado (1995) were but some of her numerous Hollywood credits. Hayek's portrayal of painter Frida Kahlo in the biographical film Frida (2002), which she also produced, made her the first Mexican actress to be recognized for the Academy Award for Best Actress[6as well as earning her Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek was a part of the action-oriented Once Upon a Time in Mexico film in the years following and concentrated more on producing.
