Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian artist and singer. Over 20 albums have been released by her. DiFranco categorizes her music as folk-rock or alternative. However, it contains influences such as punk, hip-hop, and jazz. Ani Difranco has been widely considered to be a symbol for feminist music. In the year 1990, she was among the first people to launch her own label independently. DiFranco was the child of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They were introduced in their school, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was Italian descent as was her mother born in Montreal. Her song 32 Flavors was written by her and sung by Ani. The track was first released on DiFranco's 1995 sixth album Not a Pretty Girl. A version of the song is featured on the 1999 Canadian romantic movie Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco apologised in 2013 when it was announced that she was planning to hold a three day workshop at a Louisiana plantation for slaves. It was postponed, but certain (including the newspaper) failed to think it was a sign of regret. DiFranco released a new apology several days after. The singer is well-known for her Little Folksinger songs, however she's collaborated with many artists and genres from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. The place she lives is New Orleans.
